ISSUE 32: POP OF COLOR

While I think we can all agree there is serenity to be found in a neutral pallet, I am a firm believer in pops of color. It helps bring warmth, life, and character to a home.

Even in a primarily neutral home, you can really pack a punch with statement wallpaper in a dining room, lounge, or den. It breaks it up. Your wallpaper should play into the colors throughout your home, and even the overall aesthetic.

For example, the main interior of my home is white. However, I have broken it up by creating punchy spaces in our den and our lounge.  Our den is an incredibly rich jungly green, and our lounge... I wallpapered with a terrific green leaf pattern.  Both are fresh and relaxing. One is warm, one is cozy. Just what the doctor ordered.

Wallpaper is just one example... another great way to add a punch is with a rug! Yes, a rug! You can have a neutral space or even a vivid space and beautifully crafted brightly colored or even neutral rug can break things up, turn up the volume or even turn it down!  Our selection of rugs could even make a great tapestry, as well. It's in the eye of the beholder.

Fun Tip: Look around your own home, examine your color choices and see if anything surprises you.  That's how I actually learned that i love accenting with bright orange.  I didn't realize how much I actually liked bright shades of orange until I looked around one day, and realized how much actually coexisted in my house.

What are my pops of colors?  Bright oranges, bright pinks, soft hues of blues and greens. Notice anything in that list?  ...They are complementary colors. While I love the soothing nature of blues and greens, I absolutely cannot resist the vibrancy and life of vivid colors as well.

It's allllll in the balance.
